HEYDER BABA’YA SELÂM ( با الفبای لاتین )
Mohammedhuseyin Hajimiragha oghlu Shahriyar was born in 1906 in KHushgenab village
situated near Tabriz in Iran and died in 1988. He has got his primary and secondary education
in Tabriz, then entered the medical faculty of the University in Tehran but could not finish it.
He was one of the most outstanding poets of XX century. He created such beautiful and rich
in content poems as “ Yalan dunya ” (“Decisive world”), “ Turk dili ” (“ The Turkish language ”),
“Derya eledim”, “Belali bash”, “Sazli shairimiz Xazinin ruhuna” (“To the honor of our poet
Khazi”), «?zadlig gushu «Varlig» (“The bird of freedom “Varlig”), “Veten” (“ The motherland”);
Such his lyrical poems which are written in persian language as “Azerbaijan”, “Unudulmush
saz” (“Forgotten saz”), “Intizar” (“Nostalgia”), “Arazin qayiqlari” (“Boats of Aras”) and his big
poems as “Haqqin sesi” (“The voice of justice”), “Sheir ve hikmet” (“The poem and the
wisdom”), “Nishapurda gunesh batarken” (“When in Nishapur the sun sets”) should be
mentioned. Shahriyar wrote his famous poem “Heyderbabaya salam” in 1954. This poem
exposed the wide horizons for the development of Azerbaijani poetry in the World
