این سخن از برنارد شاو ، شاعر و نویسنده و هجو نویس بزرگ ایرلندی است که میگوید :

TEETH

When the teeth fall out , the tongue wags loose

این مثل کنایه از افراد پیر و سالخورده است که وقتی دندان را از دست میدهند زبان مجال خود نمایی میابد و تازه بکار می افتد .

این ضرب المثل چینی است که می گوید :

وقتی دندانها می افتند ، تازه زبان به کار می افتد .



LAUGH

- بخند تا دنیا به رویت بخندد

- صائب می گوید :

- سعدی شیرازی میفرماید :

یا مکن با فیلبانان دوستی

یا بنا کن خانه ای در خورد فیل

-میگویند در کوهستان کوتاهترین راه از قله ای به قله دیگر است ، اما برای گذشستن از آن باید پاهای دراز داشت .

-حضرت حافظ میفرماید :

یا مرو بر جامه تقوا به نیل

-پند اخلاقی این مثل اینست که از بد گویی و خفیف و خوار شمردن دیگران نه بر شخصیت و حیثیت کسی افزوده میشود و نه از شخصیت و فضیلت او کاسته میشود .

-شمع کی بد نام شد ؟ گر نور او بستد لگن

-شیخ اجل میفرماید : گوهر اگر در خلاب افتد همچنان نفیس است و غبار اگر بر فلک رود همچنان خسیس .

-و باز در جای دیگر میگوید :

سنگ بد گوهر اگر کاسه زرین بشکست

قیمت سنگ نیافزاید و زر کم نشود

-تمثیل :

کی شود خورشید از پف منطمس *

کی شود دریا به پوز سگ نجس

-این مثل درباره نیرومندی و قدرت نیازمندی است که انسان را به زبونی و خواری وامیدارد .

-احتیاج است آنکه قدر آدمی کم میکند .

-نیاز آدم را لخت و عور به سرکوچه و بازار میدواند .

-آدم نیازمند با شیر میجنگد .

-در قابوس نامه چنین آمده است : حاجتمندی دوم اسیری است .







POOL

-مردم حقیر و کوچک اعمال و افعالشان هم خرد و محقر است .

-نظامی میگوید :

از آب خرد ماهی خرد خیزد

نهنگ آن به که با دریا ستیزد

سعدی میفرماید :



سگی را لقمه ای هرگز فراموش

-هیچکس عیب خود را نمی بیند .

-شتر گوژ خود را نمی بیند .

-کور خود و بینای مردم است .

-دریا هیچوقت صدای خودش را نمی شنود .

-نظامی می فرماید :

چشم فرو بسته ای از عیب خویش

عیب کسان را شده آئینه پیش

-تمثیل :

همه عیب خلق دیدن نه مروت است و مردی

نظری به خویشتن کن که مه گناهداری

-در کیمیای سعادت آمده است : آدمی به عیب خویش نابیناست.

-تمثیل :

ای که جز عیب کس نمی بینی

عیب خود را چرا نمی بینی؟

این مثل غالبا برای بیان مزاح و شوخی در مورد جواب این سوال ( چرا ازدواج نمی کنی ؟ ) گفته میشود :

وقتی که شیر اینقدر ارزان و مقرون به صرفه هست ، آدم عاقل هرگز گاو نمی خرد و با خود نگه نمی دارد .

این مثل در نکوهش و ریشخند کسانی است که ستایش بیجا و گزافه گویی بیش از حد از خود میکنند :

معنی این مثل این است که به هر کجا که بروی اوضاع همبن است که هست .
تمثیل :
به هر کجا بروی آسمان همین رنگ است
مرو به هند با خدای خویش بساز
مفتون همدانی :
عهدیست که صلح ها همه جنگ بود
عهدیست که نامه ها همه ننگ بود
تنها نه همی عرصه به ما تنگ بود
هرجا روی اسمان همین رنگ بود

-دنبه رامسپارید ای یاران به خرس .

نزد نادان ، پاسخ دندان شکن خاموشی است
کای بسا شد پسته لب بسته ، دندان را شکست
-مولانا می فرماید :
پس جوابت در سکوت است و جنون
هست با ابله سخن گفتن جنون
-تمثیل :
مده پاسخ به گفتار سفیهان
همان بهتر به خاموشی بکوشی
مگر نشنیده ای این نکته نغز
جواب ابلهان باشد خموشی
-همایون می گوید :

-عاقل آسوده بود تا به جهان خر باقیست .

-احمق را ستایش خوش آید .

از دست پخت زن تعریف کن تا در کنار اجاق خود را قربانی کند .
-یگانه چیزی که مقاومت زن را خرد می کند تحسین وستایش اوست .

زنان نازک دلند وسست رأیند

زن ارچه زیرک وهشیار باشد

-دیوانه به کار خویش هشیار است (( هر ابلهی در کار خود یا مواردی که نفع یا ضرری عاید اوست ، بسیار عاقل و زیرک است )).

-یک دیوانه سنگی را به چاه می اندازد که صدها عاقل نمی توانند آن را در بیاورند .

-سنایی می گوید :

-حضرت حافظ می فرماید :
ابلهانرا همه شربت ز گلاب و قند است
قوت دانا همه در خون جگر می بینم

جاهلانرا فخر می باید زجهل خود که دهر

دولت به خران دادی و نعمت به سگان

-این مثل در نکوهش تعجیل و در ستایش صبر و بردباری و تحمل است .
-التعانی من الرحم و العجله من الشیطان .
-شتاب کار شیطان است .
-تمثیل :
هر که در کارها شتاب کند / خانه عقل را خراب کند
چون نهال شتاب بنشانی / بردهد میوه پشیمانی
-آدم عجول چای خود را با چنگال می خورد .
-صیاد عجول به جای ماهی قورباغه می گیرد .
-سگی که در زائیدن شتاب کند توله اش کور به دنیا می آید .
-تمثیل :
تعجیل و شتاب را زیان بسیار است / تعجیل کننده پیرو شیطان است

-به قول نظامی :
مرد کز صید ناصبور افتد / تیر او از نشانه دور افتد

- این مثل ترکی در نکوهش عجله وشتاب است که سرچشمه شیطانی دارد .
- در ادبیات عامیانه آمده : تند میروی فلانی ، ترسم به ره بمانی .
- زود در سرفتد هر آنکه دود .
- هر آنکو زود راند ، زود ماند .
- آدم دستپاچه دو پارو میکنه تو یه پاچه !

-منظور از این مثل حمیت همکاران و هم صنفان است .
-اسب و استر به هم لگد نزنند .
-کولی ، کولی را میبیند چوبش را به زمین می اندازد .
-دزد به دزد که میرسد چماق خود را می دزدد .
-فامیل اگه گوشت هم رو هم بخورند استخوانشان را جلوی غریبه نمی اندازد .
-نظامی تمثیل زیبایی دارد :
به دزدی شدن پشت دزادن خطاست
تو دزدی و من دزد ، نیز این رواست





Hang a thief when he's young T and he'll no steal when he is old

-اگر دزدی را در جوانی به دار آویزی ، در پیری دیگر دزدی نخواهد کرد.
-سعدی می فرماید :

The Blood of soldier makes the glory the general

- معنی این مثل این است که حاصل رنج و زحمت و فداکاری زیردستان غالبا منجر به کسب قدرت و افتخارات فرماندهان آنها می شود .

- خون سرباز ریخته می شود افتخارش نسیب ژنرال می شود .

- خواجوی کرمانی می گوید :

رنج ما بردیم ، گنج ارباب دولت برده اند

خار ما خوردیم و ایشان گل بدست آورده اند

تمثیل :

چور گل بلبل کشید و بوی گل را باد برد

بیستون را عشق کند و شهرتش فرهاد برد

این سخن اشاره به کسانی است که با وجود ضعف در زمینه آسیب پذیری و عدم وسائل کافی ،

دست به کارهای خطیر میزنند .

کسیکه دامن حصیری دارد ، باید از آتش فاصله بگیرد .

ترا که خانه نئین است بازی نه این است .

نظیر : کسیکه بار شیشه دارد به دیوانه سنگ نمی زند .

تمثیل :

تو که بر بام خود آئینه داری

چرا بر بام مردم میزنی سنگ

TAKE

- قطره قطره جمع گردد وانگهی دریا شود .

- در گلستان سعدی آمده است :

اندک اندک خیلی شود ، قطره قطره سیلی .

- شیخ اجل در جایی دیگر می فرماید :

اندک اندک به هم شود بسیار

دانه دانه است غله در انبار

ناصر خسرو می گوید :

اندک اندک علم یابد نفس چون عالی شود

امیر خسرو میگوید :

-این مثل در باب اخادی وکلاهبرداری بکار میرود

کلاه علی را سر ولی گذاشتن

- بر کس مپسند انچه ترا نیست پسند .

- شیخ اجل سعدی می فرماید :

چیست دانی سر دلداری و دانشمندی

یاد دارم ز پیر دانشمند

تو هم از من یاد دار این پند

هر چه بر نفس خویش مپسندی

نیز بر نفس دیگری مپسند

آن گوی که طاقت جوابش داری

گندم نبری به خانه چون جو کاری

فردوسی میگوید :
